AUN UPDATES
Youth Leaders from 8 ASEAN countries gathered to consolidate the “ASEAN University Student Network (AUSN)”
Initiated in November 2020, the ASEAN University Student Network (AUSN) is a platform for student leaders from AUN Member Universities to collaborate, discuss, and come up with regional solutions for their shared concerns as ASEAN youth. During the Sub-annual and Working Committee Meeting on 28 April 2021, the youth leaders identified key issues to tackle for 2021 as well as the mechanisms involved in how to sustain those efforts across multiple generations.

2021 Essay Writing Competition for Undergraduate Students on Critical Human Rights and Peace Issues in ASEAN/Southeast Asia
ASEAN University Network-Human Rights Education Theme (AUN-HRE) and SHAPE-SEA with supported by the Norwegian Centre for Human Rights (NCHR) at University of Oslo invite Southeast Asian undergraduate students to join this year's Essay Writing Competition on Critical Human Rights and Peace Issues in ASEAN/Southeast Asia.
This year's theme is "ASEAN'S Golden Chance to Save the "Golden Land:" Seeking Regional Solutions for the Protection of Human Rights and Restoration of Democracy in Myanmar!" This essay competition aims to provide Southeast Asian undergraduate students a platform to analyse the current situation in Myanmar and to provide sound recommendations for ASEAN and its member-states in pursuit of the restoration of democracy and the ability of the people to fully claim their basic rights and freedoms. Deadline for submission is on 30 June 2021. WHAT TO WRITE ABOUT?
The scope of entries must explore and analyse ASEAN’s role in addressing current social, political, cultural and economic situations in Myanmar. It challenges essays writers to define and analyse ways for ASEAN to protect human rights, fundamental freedoms and the restoration of democracy in Myanmar, as well as, articulate on issues that need to be prioritized. Training Course Accessibility and Universal Design Training Course 2020/2021 The program is a fundamental course to acquire the skills of understanding accessibility and universal design. This course focuses on policies and implementation, on how the participant can apply the skill learned in their hometown. The training is based on the access auditor training courses developed from UNESCAP. Lectures, workshops, fieldwork, simulation and case studies are the methods to be utilized in order to gain knowledge and practical hands-on training.
