The Vietnamese Chemistry Association visited and awarded scholarships to students of the Faculty of Chemical Engineering

On June 25, 2020, the Faculty of Chemical Engineering at the University of Science and Technology in Danang had the privilege of welcoming Mr. Le Quoc Khanh, President of the Vietnam Chemical Association, Mr. Do Duy Phi, Vice President and General Secretary of the Vietnam Chemical Association, Mr. Dao Hung Cuong, Vice President of Vietnam Chemistry Association, and Chairman of Da Nang City Chemistry Association. They exchanged cooperation guidelines and presented scholarships to students.
Speaking at the event, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Dang Minh Nhat, Dean of the Faculty of Chemical Engineering, expressed his gratitude to the Vietnam Chemistry Association and the Chairman of the Da Nang City Chemistry Association, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Dao Hung Cuong, for their attention to the teaching and scientific research of the Faculty and for awarding 600 USD in scholarships to deserving students. Through the Vietnamese Chemistry Association, this is one of five special support scholarships offered by the Korean Research Organization to chemistry students nationwide who are in need but have strong academic and research skills.
After being awarded the scholarship, student Nguyen Thi Bich Dieu, class 18SH, majoring in biotechnology, expressed her sincere gratitude to the Chemistry Association and the faculty members of the Faculty of Chemical Engineering for facilitating her review of her academic records so that she had the opportunity to receive a worthwhile scholarship. She also committed to put forth even more effort and determination in her studies and research in order to uphold the Chemistry Association’s faith in her.
The president of the Chemistry Association spoke during the working session about the organization's primary responsibilities, which include serving as a conduit for scientific research and training programs between universities and businesses, connecting educational activities with the real-world requirements of businesses; serving as a conduit for lecturers and researchers to engage in consultation, evaluation, and assessment of society for the state regarding the development and implementation of directions, programs, and plans for scientific, technological, and socioeconomic development in the field of chemical industry generally and of the chemical industry specifically.
Throughout the meeting, the Faculty of Chemical Engineering received updates on the Vietnam Responsible Care Council (VRCC), also known as RC (Responsible Care is abbreviated as RC in the handbook). With the voluntary participation of businesses producing and trading chemical products from all industries operating within the borders of Vietnam, this organization of the Vietnam Chemistry Association seeks to allay public worries about commercial chemicals and chemical production methods. Mr. Do Duy Phi, the chairman of the RC, hopes that the Faculty of Chemical Engineering will take part in the activity by setting up a workshop at the University of Science and Technology and seminars for students, increasing their awareness of their responsibilities in the study of chemistry.
Hopefully, the University of Science and Technology, the University of Danang will soon have the chance to work with the Chemistry Association, with businesses to organize seminars or participate in training programs, as well as to participate in State-level scientific research missions in the area of chemical technology, with the support of the Vietnam Chemistry Association, the Danang Chemistry Association, the Faculty of Chemical Engineering, in order to realize the mission of the Chemistry Association, which is to work closely with relevant organizations, to support the rapid promotion of scientific and technical advances for the production of life; at the same time, strengthen the prestige of the Faculty of Chemical Engineering, University of Science and Technology, the University of Danang in the national and international scope.
