Participants will discuss ABET’s member societies and their volunteer evaluator characteristics and forge connections to ABET’s quality framework with regards to program academic structure and contents.

Value of ABET Accreditation

Program teams will explore and discuss value of ABET accreditation to the program and its faculty, students, public and industry.

ABET’s Quality Framework

ABET uses a two-pronged approach to program quality and its continuous improvement. Participants will explore the two prongs, with a particular focus on stakeholder involvement and improving student learning.

2:30 – 3:00 pm

Necessary Steps and General Timeline

Based on the ABET quality framework, participants will identify steps and develop a tentative timeline for accomplishing ABET accreditation, especially the preparation stage. Instructor will provide best practices for organizing preparation efforts using a parallel processing approach.
