2. International Consultancy Service Projects
Over the years SPI has established a strong track record in successful collaboration with many government agencies, educational institutions and commercial organisations in Asia and beyond. SPI offers a wide range of consultancy and training services that are customised to meet the unique needs of its partners and clients.
Vietnam:
May 2010 – December 2010: Capability Development for Competency-based Assessment in Technical and Vocational Education and Training Project
A Temasek Foundation-funded project for the Ministry of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs (MOLISA), Vietnam that was designed to develop a formal assessment system for competency-based curriculum in tier one technical colleges in Vietnam. The project trained 20 Principals and Vice-Principals in an overview of assessment systems and procedures.
August 2008 – July 2011: Capability Development in Technical and Vocational Education and Training Project
This three-year project was designed and developed for 4 TVET colleges under the Department of Education and Training (DOET) of Ho Chi Minh City to enhance management capability of college administration and faculty; enhancement and development of pedagogy and curriculum through setting up 2 new courses, namely Mechatronics and IT & Digital Media; and the establishment of an Academic Quality Management System. By the completion of this Temasek Foundation-funded project in 2011, a sustainable and replicable model for TVET education in Vietnam was developed for DOET and the 4 colleges.
May 2012 – April 2014: Conceive, Design, Implement, and Operate (CDIO) Framework for Rethinking Engineering Education, Vietnam
Funded by Temasek Foundation, this two-year programme trained lecturers of Vietnam National University (VNU) to be specialists in CDIO framework in the areas of designing an integrated curriculum, conceiving design-implement experiences, designing active and experiential learning activities, evaluating programmes for continuous improvement. The participants were also trained to design and develop a set of customized training programmes, cascaded training in CDIO to a wider audience and also redesigned the existing curriculum.
December 2015 – November 2018: Conceive, Design, Implement, and Operate (CDIO) Framework for Rethinking Engineering Education, Da Nang, Vietnam
This three-year programme funded by Temasek Foundation was developed for the University of Danang, Vietnam. The programme will train the faculty of 6 State Universities, namely Danang University of Science and Technology, Danang University of Economics, Danang University of Foreign Language Studies, Danang University of Education, Danang College of Technology, and Danang College of Information Technology to be specialists in CDIO including designing an integrated curriculum, conceiving and designing innovative products and systems, designing active experiential learning experiences and evaluating programmes for continuous improvement. The participants will also be trained to design and develop a set of customized training programmes, cascade training to a wider audience and redesign the existing curriculum.
