Meetings and workshop with Yokohama National University (Japan)

Within the framework of a two-day visit from 8th to 9th August 2017 of a delegation from Yokohama National University (YNU – Japan) consisting entrepreneurs, lecturers and students, the Faculty of Chemical Engineering, Danang University of Science and Technology (DUT), in collaboration with the YNU representative office in Danang organized the following activities:
1. Cultural exchange and scientific research exchange in the field of chemical engineering and risk management
Participating in the exchange program were 15 undergraduate and post-graduate students from School of Science and Technology, Environmental Science and Information from YNU and 40 DUT students from the Faculty of Chemical Engineering, particularly from Departments of Petroleum Engineering, Biotechnology, Food Technology and Chemical Engineering.
The program began with the introductions from representative heads of the two universities related to the university history, current scientific research as well as study opportunities and student affairs and activities.

Then the students started their cultural and scientific exchange activities through conversations related to the research work displayed in the posters performed by YNU and DUT students. The poster contents focused on the risk management in Chemical engineering, especially on risk technology and safety in chemical usage. This is a good opportunity for DUT Chemical engineered students to learn new knowledge.

The cultural and scientific exchange program left a good impression on both YNU and DUT students.
2. Workshop on “Analysis and risk management in chemical engineering process”
In the afternoon on 8.8.2017, the workshop “Analysis and risk management in chemical engineering process” took place at Hall E, Danang University of Science and Technology. The attendants included the YNU delagation, representatives from DUT Rector Board, Heads of Departments, Dean of the Faculty of Chemical Engineering, lectures and students. Especially, the events welcomed the presences and presentations of engineers from Binh Son refinery (BSR), representatives from LPG Danang factory and The National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health in the center of Vietnam.

3. A visit to LPG Factory
On 9.8.2017, the YNU delegation and lecturers of DUT Faculty of Chemical Engineering had a visit to the LPG factory, Tho Quang Ward, Son Tra district, Danang, which belongs to the Danang Gas Petrolimex group. The visit mainly focused on safety system and risk management in the factory.

It is obviously that the business trip of YNU lecturers, students and entrepreneurs to DUT has enhanced the relationship between the Faculty of Chemical Engineering (DUT) and the Center of Safety and Risk management (YNU), which opens a near future potential collaborations in terms of education as well as research in safety technology and risk management in chemical engineering.
