The general objective of BioT is educating highly qualified graduates with good political, moral characteristics and health, providing comprehensive knowledge, professional practice skills, research capacity, lifelong learning and creative ability, professional responsibility to develop and apply science and technology in the fields of Biotechnology for the development of the Biotechnology industry and for the socio-economic growth, security of the country and thus contribute to global integration. Currently, the annual enrollment of Biotechnology program is about 110 students. Through 22 years of training (2001-2023), there are more than 1600 Biotechnology engineers graduated from different training systems and modes such as formal and in-service training. Many of them are playing key roles in government agencies, universities and industrial companies throughout the country with high recognition of the ability and adaptability to work such as Biotechnology Center - Da Nang Department of Science and Technology, Industry and Technology, Heineken Da Nang Beer Company, Heineken Quang Nam, Seaprodex Da Nang Seafood Processing Joint Stock Company, Danapha Pharmaceutical Company, Vietnam Vinasoy Quang Ngai Soymilk Company, Quang Ngai Humic Organic Fertilizer Company.

Together with teaching, lecturers also actively participate in scientific research to improve professional knowledge to serve teaching. There are many ministerial-level, university-level projects and basic research projects associated with domestic and foreign units that have been implemented, promising good results. Some research works have been applied and transferred technology to agencies and production facilities. The results of scientific research are supplemented as teaching materials and compiling textbooks. Currently, the Department of Biotechnology has 5 laboratories with modern equipment for teaching and scientific research of staff and students majoring in Biotechnology.
