1.2. DESCRIPTION OF UNDERGRADUATE BIOTECHNOLOGY PROGRAM
1.2.1. TRAINING OBJECTIVES OF BIOTECHNOLOGY PROGRAM
1.2.1.1. General Objectives
The objective of the program is to provide engineers for biotechnology field:
- Having political qualities, ethics, healthy and patriotism to contribute to the development of the nation and the community.
- Having basic knowledge of natural philosophy and fundamental professional knowledge, meeting the study requirements of basic knowledge of the major for studying, doing research, designing technical processes, and operating straight-line in fields of Agriculture, Food, Medicine and Pharmacy and Environment.
- Having knowledge in basic and specialized fields for quality analysis and control.
- Having self-education, lifelong learning, communication, teamwork skills and foreign language ability to adapt the unlimited development of Science and Technology.
- Supplying high-skill Bio-students for laboratories, verification centers, educational institutes and Universities.
1.2.1.2 Specific Objectives
* Knowledge:
- The program is designed to equip the requirement knowledge for a standard Bio-student, including basic knowledge such as Mathematics, Physics, Mechanics, Electricity, Electronics, Technical Drawing, Environment, Fundamental Chemistry, Inorganic Chemistry, Organic Chemistry, Physical Chemistry, Analysis Chemistry, Biology, Chemical Process and Equipment, Biochemistry, Microbiology,….. and specialized knowledge in Biotechnology such as Probability and Statistics, Fundamental Molecular Biology, Biotechnology Equipment and Process, Enzyme Technology, Biological Analysis Technics, Pharmaceutical Technology, Environmental Biotechnology, Bioinformatics, Breeding Biotechnology, Planting Biotechnology, Foodstuff Biology, Immunity Biology and so on.
* Skills: through the knowledge designed in the program, graduates are able to:
- Consult and design process lines for Bio-products and fermented products, deliver over plants and microorganism.
- Install, operate and control process lines for Bio-products and fermented products, plants and microorganism.
- Analyze and process data by using specific software
- Solve problems through the knowledge designed in the lab courses, thesis and practice activities.
- Communicate, present, discuss and give solutions to solve Bio-problems
- Team work: Graduates of Bio- program are able to work efficiently in diversified roles of working environment
* Attitute:
Graduates have good professional ethics and healthy lifestyle, fidelity in science, have responsible for work and community, disciplined and united in life.
1.2.2. EXPECTED LEARNING OUTCOMES
Graduates of the Biotechnology program can have ability to:
1- Apply knowledge of mathematics and fundamental science to solve Bio-problems.
2- Select suitable equipment in process lines as well as use modern equipment.
3- Design and do researches in biotechnology, analyze and process data as well as apply model experimental results to improve manufacturing processes of Bio-products.
4- Calculate, design and operate manufacturing processes of Bio-products effectively
5- Identify, analyze and solve technical problems related in Biotechnology.
6- Work in multidisciplinary working environment.
7- Be responsible and professional ethics
8- Present and discuss major topics effectively.
9- Use computer
10- Pursue self-education, lifelong learning in the context of rapid changes of Science and Technology
11- Communicate in foreign languages and read specific articles
