The Learning Express III program taking place at the University of Danang – Danang University of Science and Technology from September 24th , 2017 to October 5th, 2017 has finally kicked start

The morning of September 25th, 2017 marks the beginning of the Learning Express III programme between students of the University of Danang - Danang University of Science and Technology (UD – DUT) and Singapore Polytechnic with the Opening Ceremony being held in the Seminar room on the 3rd floor of Learning Resource and Communication Center.

Following the utmost meaningful and successful journey of two previous LeX programs held in September 2016 and March 2017, as well as the TFI – SCALE 2017 program including 3 weeks of gaining new knowledge and experience for students from UD – DUT in Singapore and 2 weeks at DUT. On September 24th, 2017, students of UD – DUT are honored to welcome 3 facilitators and 28 students from Singapore Polytechnic to Vietnam so as to continue deploying the LeX III program at UD – DUT from September 24th, 2017 to October 5th, 2017.

From September 24th, 2017 to October 5th, 2017, students of Singapore Polytechnic and UD – DUT are scheduled to join in learning activities and field trips along with meet-and-greet and social exchanging session. In these activities, students of both schools are to be trained and carry out the Design Thinking – CDIO skills, experiencing real lives at traditional handicraft villages in Danang city.

From October 2nd, 2017 to October 5th, 2017, students of both schools will go on a field trip to handicraft villages in Danang: Tuy Loan vegetable-planting village in Hoa Vang district and An Khe bamboo-weaving village in Thanh Khe district, in order to observe and interview the villagers there about the manufacturing process, the difficulties facing them and their need for improvement. From then on, students will apply theory about the Design Thinking study model and various skills such as teamwork skill, analytical and evaluative skill, problem-solving skill,… on discussions to bring out ideas and solutions that can help support the villagers in practical production.

Hopefully, this will be an interesting and memorable experience for all the participating students of both schools as they are offered the chance to gain and heighten awareness on community-developing activities through cooperating and working together. Additionally, students can also have a better understanding of the villagers’ traditions, customs and living habits through interacting with the community during this entire meaningful trip.

In the next 12-day programme, we hope students of Singapore Polytechnic will have great fun and interesting experience with students of UD – DUT, strengthening the bond and friendship between Vietnamese and Singaporean students as well as between UD – DUT and Singapore Polytechnic
