AUN-QA warmly welcomes 4 new associate members to its fold

• On 25 June 2021, the AUN-QA Council formally approved and welcomed four new associate members to the AUN-QA Network.
• These universities are:
  1. National University of Management (Cambodia)
  2. University of Malaysia Sarawak (Malaysia)
  3. Myanmar Aerospace Engineering University (Myanmar)
  4. Cebu Technological University (the Philippines) 
• These new additions bring the total membership of the AUN-QA Network to 121 member universities.

AUN-QA promotes two and reinstates one to Lead Assessor status

• On 25 June 2021, the AUN-QA Council meeting approved the promotion of two assessors and the reinstatement of one assessor to Lead Assessor status. 
• The Lead Assessors who got promoted are:
  • Asst. Prof. Dr. Sharul Tazrajiman Hj Tajuddin from Universiti Teknologi Brunei, who has conducted a total of 7 AUN-QA Programme Assessments at universities from Indonesia, Malaysia and Vietnam. 
  • Assoc. Prof. Dr. Pham Van Tuan from University of Danang, who has conducted a total of 12 AUN-QA Programme Assessments at universities from Indonesia, the Philippines, and Thailand.
• Prof. Dr. Amelia P. Guevara from the University of the Philippines was reinstated as a Lead Assessor. She has conducted a total of 17 AUN-QA Programme Assessments at universities from Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Thailand and Vietnam.

Hon. Lourdes T. David poses challenge to AUNILO and ASEAN Universities to raise discourse and coordination in library quality assurance

• Hon. Lourdes T. David, Member of the Professional Regulatory Board for Librarians, Philippines and Keynote speaker of the 16th AUNILO Meeting, has called for the Libraries of ASEAN University Network (AUNILO) members to broaden assessment to include Library and Information Science Education (LIS) programmes to effectively raise discourse in library quality assurance (QA).

The Young SEAkers celebrated their Inauguration Day on 7th August alongside the 30th anniversary of ASEAN-China dialogue relations

• On 7 August 2021, The Young SEAkers (TYS) organised their Inauguration Day, a half-day hybrid event, where youths and young working professionals in ASEAN and China gathered and listened from esteemed panellists on their insights on the future opportunities and challenges in the ASEAN-China region.
• The event was held in a hybrid format that invited students and members of the public to join virtually alongside representatives from Singapore’s educational and cultural institutions. The event aimed to empower youths to envision the future they want for the region in the next 30 years and create their own narrative on the direction of ASEAN-China relations. 
• As the TYS regional advisors and partners, the Executive Directors of ASEAN Foundation and ASEAN University Network also attended the event virtually.
• Ms. Sun Xueling, Minister of State in the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Social and Family Development and Board Member of the Chinese Development Assistance Council gave the keynote speech.
• Three esteemed speakers joined the Panel Discussion on the topic of “The Future of Business: Challenges and Opportunities in SEA”:
  1. Ambassador Ong Keng Yong , Ambassador-at-large at the Singapore Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Executive Deputy Chairman of S. Rajaratnam School of International Studies (RSIS) at NTUS, and the 11th Secretary-General of ASEAN 
  2. Mr. Royce Wee, Head of Global Public Policy at Alibaba Group,
  3. Mr. Ryan Yap, Head of Growth at YCH Group
  4. The event was moderated by Mr Calvin Wee, the Co-Founder of The Young SEAkers
• The event also saw the official launch of Project “AISEH” (ASEAN-in Singapore Experience Hub ), Project AISEH is a book put together by a group of dedicated ASEAN youths that aims to provide information and resources on Singapore from an ASEAN perspective.

Call for Proposals and Participation

ACU-LMS Pilot Class Operation

For interested instructors and learners, the ASEAN Cyber University Project (ACU) is now launching its call for participations for the the ACU Learning Management System (ACU-LMS) Pilot Class Operation.

The ACU-LMS Pilot Operation aims to:

• Assist to the capacity-development of the ASEAN network through the utilization of the open-based Learning Management System (LMS)
• Develop example cases of online learning in higher education to be able to strengthen the consensus towards online-based collaboration between the Republic of KOREA and the ASEAN partner network.

The call invites instructors and learners of the ASEAN region to take part in using the ACU-OER and LMS in its class.
