The University of Danang - University of Science and Technology has strategically improved its academic quality and prepared for international accreditation according to ASIIN international standards

From 17^th to 19^th May 2023, at The University of Danang – University of Science and Technology (UD-DUT)  took place the onsite visit in the ASIIN Programme Assessment for 11 Bachelors and Master degree programmes. This was the very first timethe university  involved in a academic accreditation by a prestigious organization from Germany , one of the world's leading countries in science, engineering and technology.

As a globally active accreditation agency,ASIIN (The Accreditation Agency for Study Programs in Engineering, Informatics, Natural Sciences and Mathematics) is a member of all central international registers and quality assurance associations. ASIIN currently maintains partnerships with agencies in 23 countries and carries out joint accreditation procedures in selected target countries with local partner agencies. In Vietnam,  from June 2021, ASIIN has been officially approved  by the Vietnamese Ministry of Education and Training (MOET) and is thus authorised to carry out the accreditational procedures in VietnamHigher Education.… The ASIIN‘s accreditation is recognized as a guarantee of the quality of higher education worldwide.

To build and continuously affirm the prestige and elite of DUT with the vision to become a research-based university with international recognition and proactive cooperation in the global world for solving national and international socio-economic challenges, the unified solidarity and strong commitment of lecturers, administrative staff, students, and post-graduates, combined with the achievements made for the past 45 years, have become a truly solid foundation leading DUT.

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Huu Hieu – Rector of  UD-DUT had speech at the opening ceremony

In his speech at the Opening ceremony, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Huu Hieu - Rector of UD-DUT said: “DUT has carried-out outcome-based education (OBE) that entails the restructuring of curriculum, pedagogy and assessment practices to reflect the achievement of high-order learning, as opposed to a mere accumulation of course credits. Our curricula have been thoroughly and significantly renovated. With an approach to Project-based learning, apart from academic and professional knowledge, students are equipped with language competence and necessary skills such as complex problem-solving skill, critical thinking, innovation and entrepreneurship, in order to enhance employability and start-up potentials after graduation together with the ability to join in highly competitive labor markets in Vietnam, in the ASEAN economic community, and worldwide.”

After 02 working days, the programme assessment ended with  23 officially working sessions of 4 Clusters of 11 undergraduate & postgraduate degree programmes from 06 faculties, including:

• Cluster A: Ba & Ma Electrical Engineering;
• Cluster B: Ba Information Technology & High Quality Information Technology (Japanese), Ma Computer Science;
• Cluster C: Ba Construction Materials Engineering and Technology, Ba & Ma Hydraulic Engineering;
• Cluster D: Ba Natural Resource and Environment Management, Ba Construction Economics, Ma Construction Management.

There were also 27 facilities for tour of the participating institution and 06 groups of stakeholders participating  in the interview sessions within 02 days. Among them, there were 06 Deans, 06 Vice-Deans; 06 Program Chairs, Heads of Departments, 35 SAR Team Members; 56 Academic Staff; 67 Students (Year 1^st  - Year 4^th ); 69  Industry partners and Alumni. Tour of facility visit was conducted with list of different laboratories, technical equipment, study-related facilities of each Cluster.

Successful closing of the ASIIN programme assessment at the University of Danang – University of Science and Technology was on 19^th May 2023. “Improving the internal quality assurance network (IQA) of DUT is an important factor to ensure and gradually improve the quality of all aspects of the university as well as the professionalism and qualifications of academic and support staff. We are continuing to strengthen the evaluation and accreditation of all training programs as well as institutional accreditation at the second phase. We will continuously improve to achieve "The never-ending quality journey towards world-class universities at UD-DUT", emphasized Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Huu Hieu at the closing ceremony.
